Passage Content
The nations will attempt to defend themselves against
God's charge that they did not involve themselves in Torah:
The Nations say (rhetorically): Master of the Universe:
Did you offer us the Torah and did we refuse to accept it?
No! It was never presented to us in the first place.
But this cannot be their defense, since all the nations
were in fact offered the Torah: But can they really say this:
God came forth from Sinai -
having shone forth from Seir,
having appeared from Mount Paran.
And another verse:
God came from the south, God from Paran.
Question (1): Now what did God want with Paran?
Question (2): How do Seir and Paran relate to the giving of the Torah?
