Afflictions of Love

If he examined his deeds and did not find anything,
he should attribute his afflictions to neglect of Torah study,
Fortunate is the man whom God afflicts,
and whom You teach from Your Torah.
And if he attempted to attribute his afflictions
to neglect of Torah study but did not find anything,
it can be assumed that they are afflictions of love.
For God rebukes the one He loves.
