Passage Content

Her father heard that a great man is coming to town.

Ben Kalba	I will go to him, perhaps he will annul my vow.
He came to Akiva and asked him to annul the vow.
Akiva	Did you make the vow with the intent that it would apply even if your son-in-law becomes a great man?
Ben Kalba	Even if he would know just 1 chapter of Mishnah, or even just 1 halachah, I would not have made the vow!
Akiva	I am he.
Ben Kalba fell on his face and kissed him on his foot. And he gave Akiva half of his possessions.
