He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver.
this is a reference to Moses our teacher,
whose love of mitzvos was so great that
although he knew that an unintentional murderer
would not be admitted to the three cities of refuge
that were in the east bank of the Jordan
until the three cities of refuge that were
in the land of Canaan were selected, and that his
designation of cities of refuge would
have no practical ramifications in his lifetime.
He nevertheless said: When there is a mitzva
that has come my way, I will fulfill it.
